stressful experiences in life. Packing up boxes and lugging around sofas, how could
that be slightly less stressful and traumatic than divorce (and slightly more so
than shopping at Ikea). But following our move from North London to Surrey last
week, I now know this to be true.”

Anne’s experience of high stress levels is typical of the majority of people that
move home. It really is one of the most stressful things you will do in life. The
anxiety of finding a buyer, negotiating a new purchase, dealing with estate agents,
solicitors and mortgage lenders, probably saying goodbye to trusted friends and
neighbours and familiar surroundings take their toll.
